Manilla: 6 hrs drive sthwest is Manilla I fly the hang gliding comp in Febuary each year. Manilla is worth the drive for all visitors it gives you a look at outback Australia. It does get very hot and has been known to catch some pilots unaware in the past. Camping is available at Godfreys or in town and makes for a good adventure. There are some historic gold fields in the area and Lake Keepit as tourist attractions. Manilla is also 40min drive from Tamworth Australia's home of country music and many other things to do on the off days.

When I go to Manilla I make the most of it and plan my trip to suit the weather. Many pilots don’t check the weather and get rained or blown out.

I stay for a minimum of one week and maximum of two weeks. It’s a great site and if your happy to go to base you’ll get some personal bests at this site. I require heaps of notice for this tour and can put it together to suit the visitor. If your visiting with friends it’s worth the look.

Tour includes. Travel to Manilla, Camping accommodation (tents, blankets, etc), Fuel, Car, Retrieve from Task route and goal (get lost it cost extra.), Camp cooked meals.

COST $700 per week. Minimum 3 people.

Rainbow Beach:  Rainbow is a great place to fly, again it has to be planned out. It’s a lot closer only 2.5 hrs nth. The site is coastal and comes on around lunchtime and on a good day you can fly till dark. There are great camping facilities nearby and rainforest walks in the area. The drive to and from Rainbow beach is a trip on it’s own, the area has extensive rainforests and is another reminder what a beautiful country this is.

When I go to Rainbow I allow at least 2 days and if your still up for it 3 or 4 it is heaps of fun and a must do when in Oz. The local town has a good feel to it and the local pub or club has good meals and great friendly atmosphere. I camp at the local camping park the facilities are clean and tidy. Its great to relax around the camp fire and look up to a full starry night.

Tour includes. Travel to Rainbow Beach, Camping accommodation (tents, blankets, etc), Fuel, Car, Camp cooked meals.

COST $80 per person first day $50 every day after plus fuel, Minimum 2 people.

Local sites. The Local sites are some of the best in Australia. Beechmont has a current record of 498km and tambourine is a convergence dream. To many visitors get caught out on the finer points to both sites and simply don’t enjoy themselves or worse get injured. I aim to please and get a lot of enjoyment out of seeing pilots have a great day.

Beechmont is our easterly site and takes pretty much any easterly directions and on occasion a light westerly. As a general rule you require more than 7knts easterly for the air to get over Springbrook (the mountain in front of Beechmont) for it to not be on at Tamborine, if that makes any sense. Basically it isn’t that easy to get to the right hill at the right time. You need help getting the timing right, both sites are particular.

Tour includes. Travel to the site and easy retrieve, I am happy to launch first and wind dummy to give you a better chance of getting a good flight in orginise a retrieve and make sure you come back in one piece.  Tour costs $50 per day plus fuel.
